Programs around New York:

New York State Archives Month

October is New York State Archives month—and American Archives Month.  It is a time to celebrate and promote the rich and diverse documentary heritage of the state by increasing public awareness of archival materials and repositories and by acknowledging the importance of our records keepers.

During the month, archives, historical societies, libraries, local governments, and museums in New York State celebrate with exhibits, presentations, banquets, award ceremonies, and an always striking Archives Month poster.

Find out how you can participate, see the Calendar of Events, and use the sample action guides to obtain useful advice and guidance as you plan your Archives Month celebrations.

The Society of American Archivists offers a free American Archives Month Public Relations Kit, which provides basic materials that will give every archivist the opportunity to make his or her archives program more visible.
