The 2008 has received a little nip and tuck for 2018, but can the Peugeot make an impression in the fast-growing compact-SUV segment? What we love Agile handling and mostly comfortable ride Responsive engine/auto combination Superb optional leather front seats Good-size boot What we don't Steering's lack of accuracy around straight-ahead 2018 Peugeot 2008 Allure price and specifications Price: From $30,990 drive-away Engine: 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol Power: 81kW at 5500rpm Torque: 205Nm at 1500rpm Transmission: Six-speed automatic, front-wheel drive Fuel use: 4.8L/100km Peugeot 2008 Allure 2018 new car review Thumbnail View 1/13 2/13 3/13 4/13 5/13 6/13 7/13 8/13 9/13
It's worth noting that with Grip Control come a set of winter tyres which have a chunkier more aggressive tread pattern. And they were right. The light little 2008 was taken out west of the Blue Mountains and run across a selection of tracks from rutted gravel hills, to mud-puddle ruts and slippery, muddy corners. The 2008 might be short-ish and tall-ish compact SUV but it doesn't feel like that on the road. The suspension's been tuned to smother the worst of the road's imperfections with good body control. Quite often car makers can go for comfort and hang the handling, but that's not the case with the 2008.
Our test car was fitted with the latter, and thanks to its low kerbweight, it felt remarkably nippy and faster than its competition with similar power outputs. The six-speed manual 'box also has a nice action, and helps with the 2008's smooth driving experience. Ride and handling
The Peugeot 2008 scores well for its efficient engines, comfortable interior and smart styling. In other words, it's a terrific all-rounder. Excellent 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine, more spacious and practical than the 208, post-facelift version looks smart.
Though based heavily on the French brand's 208 supermini, this little Crossover built on the virtues of that model by offering extra space and flexibility, a higher-set driving position, more individual looks and the option of mild off road ability. All for not much more money than was being asked for its showroom stablemate.
It's an aesthetically pleasing thing all round, really, looking like it was designed from the off as an individual model. As opposed to the old 2008, which had the demeanour of a 208 hatchback.
Up front is spacious and headroom, even with the optional sunroof (Allure), is excellent. (Image credit: Richard Berry) I'm a tall freak at 191cm and the only way I could sit behind my driving position was with my knees mashed into the seat back. 2018 Peugeot 2008 Review 51,789 views Oct 7, 2018 Despite its impressive kit, active safety and long warranty the Peugeot 2008 seems to go unnoticed in the compact SUV segment and it's hard.
The 2008 remains a compelling if slightly unusual choice for families. The sophisticated looks set it apart from the slightly more obvious designs of competitors, and the interior has just enough French flair to make it interesting. And what the efficient diesel and petrol engines lack in punch, they make up for in efficiency.
The engines and suspension all remain the same, meaning you get a composed but not exciting drive, a notchy, long-throw gearshift, and direct but feel-free steering. Body control is decent for a.
The 2008 is a little bit bigger than the 208 on which it is based. The boot, for example, is 360 litres in capacity, which makes it 75 litres bigger than that of its smaller sibling. What's more,.

Peugeot 2008 SUV (2016 - 2019) review.. Allure cars have climate control, automatic lights and wipers, and electric rear windows, while range-topping GT Line trim gives the car a sportier look and feel, as well as adding a reversing camera and sat-nav into the mix. Expert rating: 4/5.
There are a few surprises in store when you come across the Peugeot 5008. It's a seven-seat SUV and competes with other five-seat SUVs moonlighting as seven-seaters (you only use the back two.
It's a shame Peugeot reserves a more powerful tune and eight-speed transmission for the GT Sport though. At the moment it's charming and punchy, but with more grunt it'd be properly class-leading. Not having an eight-speeder also precludes the base 2008 from getting adaptive cruise control because of a quirk in Peugeot's powertrain strategy.
The new Peugeot 2008 plugs the compact SUV gap the way the old one never quite did, despite being very capable. What it doesn't do is tempt the younger buyers the brand desperately wants; those who seek a sub-$30,000 entry level compact SUV, because the cheapest 2008 is the Allure, at a considerable $34,990. The brand is banking on cashed-up young 'uns liking what they see.
The 2008 is a light and straightforward car to drive, with low-effort controls and a unique feeling of easy alacrity thanks to its fast steering and small wheel. It's darty and nimble in town, an.
VALUE. We're reviewing the mid-grade Allure, which is currently selling for $29,990 before on-roads are factored in. Our tester also has $2000 worth of leather seats and $590 of metallic paint added. Looking at similarly specced front-drive petrol-powered competition, the 2008 is dearer than some ( Honda's HR-V VTi-S at $27,990 before on.
The best bit is that the 2008's seemingly ambitious dreams aren't even that fanciful - as you soon realise when you jump inside and feast your eyes on its lavish interior.
The Volkswagen Polo SE is around £1,000 cheaper than the Peugeot 208 Allure, but has a more robust interior and is almost as economical. The 208's 1.6-litre BlueHDi 75 diesel offers an impressive.
The small SUV market in Australia is hyper competitive with 31 different makes and models across a wide range of prices. We find out if Peugeot's new 2008 can cut through the traffic.
